Correction: The Velvet Family of Fungal Regulators Contains a DNA-Binding Domain Structurally Similar to NF-κB

چکیده
Some panels of Figure 1 also appear in more complete form in Supplementary Figures S3 and S5. To clarify this, the authors have supplied a corrected version of the legend to Figure 1. The authors inadvertently used the wrong EMSA gel in the central panel of Figure 4, resulting in a duplication. The righthand panel (VosA1-190 K160A and VosA1-190 dead) was correct, but the central panel (VosA1-190 K37/39A, VosA1-190 R41A and VosA1-190 K42A) incorrectly showed the same gel. The authors have confirmed that this error does not affect the interpretation of the results or conclusions of the paper. The authors apologize for any confusion caused by this mistake. The authors have provided a corrected version here.

The Velvet Family of Fungal Regulators Contains a DNA-Binding Domain Structurally Similar to NF-κB
Morphological development of fungi and their combined production of secondary metabolites are both acting in defence and protection. These processes are mainly coordinated by velvet regulators, which contain a yet functionally and structurally uncharacterized velvet domain. Here we demonstrate that the velvet domain of VosA is a novel DNA-binding motif that specifically recognizes an 11-nucleot...
متن کاملStudying the DNA Binding and Conformation of Metal-Binding Site Mutations in Pirin
The transcription factor NF-κB interacts with many other co-regulator proteins that modulate its binding and transcriptional activity. One of these co-regulators, Pirin, is an irondependent metalloprotein that has been shown to enhance the DNA binding of NF-κB homodimers. Here, we characterize the interactions between Pirin and its known NF-κB binding partners and examined the role of Bcl-3, a ...
متن کاملRegulation of NF-κB by atypical activators and tumour suppressors
The RelA(p65) NF-κB (nuclear factor κB) subunit is typically thought of as being antiapoptotic and tumourpromoting. However, in our laboratory, we have discovered that RelA can inhibit, rather than induce, antiapoptotic gene expression when activated by certain chemotherapeutic drugs, UV light or through the action of the ARF tumour suppressor. These observations explain why RelA can sometimes ...
متن کاملCorrection for Doukas and Sarnow, "Escape from Transcriptional Shutoff during Poliovirus Infection: NF-κB-Responsive Genes IκBa and A20".
It has been known for a long time that infection of cultured cells with poliovirus results in the overall inhibition of transcription of most host genes. We examined whether selected host genes can escape transcriptional inhibition by thiouridine marking newly synthesized host mRNAs during viral infection. Using cDNA microarrays hybridized to cDNAs made from thiolated mRNAs, a small set of host...
متن کاملEfficient DNA binding of NF-κB requires the chaperone-like function of NPM1
NPM1/nucleophosmin is frequently overexpressed in various tumors, although the oncogenic role of NPM1 remains unclear. Here we revealed the link between NPM1 and nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB), a master regulator of inflammation. We found that NPM1 knockdown decreased NF-κB-mediated transcription of selected target genes by decreasing the recruitment of NF-κB p65 to the gene promoters. NPM1 is direc...
